Torbreck之夜

昨晚参加了在丽思卡尔顿酒店52楼举行的Torbreck晚宴,由于灵笙酒业的Arthur Wang的细心周到的安排,我非常有幸地坐在了Torbreck的庄主David Powell对面,因而能在晚宴期间和庄主充分交流。开席前几分钟,吕杨刚好赶到,一场盛宴就此拉开帷幕。当晚的酒都表现不错,第一支Torbreck Woodcutter's Semillon 2009刚开始有些还原的味道,随着酒液温度的逐步上升,这支酒逐渐挥发出浓郁的干果,蜂蜜烤面包的陈年Semillon的香气,但同时保留了矿物的清新,酸度也不错。热情的David向我们解释了为什么一支Barossa Valley(温带气候)的Semillon能够保有如此好的酸度,主要还是由于酒厂严格控制了葡萄的采摘期,进行了提前收割,并且坚决否认了有在这款酒中补酸,庄主果然还是很较真的人,哈哈。余下3支红酒各有千秋,酒的质量都很稳定,全部采摘自酒庄老藤葡萄树,其中2款GSM的Mataro的葡萄藤更是有超过130年的树龄。风格上3支酒都显得比较重,配合当晚的羊排,重口味Cheese拼盘很和谐,但饭后再喝显得有点腻,我发现大家上完甜点后,杯中的酒都没喝完,在这里提个小小的建议,最好收尾来款餐后酒或者是可以净饮的酒就更完美了。当晚大家都很欢乐,一起度过了一个愉快的夜晚。

 

Last night, I have taken part in a Torbreck wine dinner which taken place in the 52 floor of The Ritz Carlton Hotel. Because of the carefully arrangement of Arthur Wang, I was so fortunately that I can sit facing to the owner of Torbreck--David Powell, so that I could have a good communication with David. Few minutes before the dinner start, Lu Yang has arrived, so the fantastic dinner began. All of the wines of the dinner last night performance well, the first one-- Torbreck Woodcutter's Semillon 2009 began with some reduction like notes, with the temperature increased, the wine gradually indicates the bouquet of aging: notable nuts, toast and honey; but also maintain the freshness of minerality as well as crisp acidity. David was so passionate to introduce for us why a Barossa Valley(warm climate) Semillon can remain the so great acidity due to the reason of the early harvest—the winery has seriously control the harvest period; also David deny they have done the acidification in this wine, what a seriously man! The rest three red wines each has specialized skills, all has stable quality, which the grapes comes from the old vines of the winery, especially for the 2 GSM, the vines is over 130 years old.

For the respect of the styles of three red wines, seemed too heavy and oaky, that perfect matched with the toast lamb and blue cheese assorted cold dishes, while a little fatty after the dinner, so that I found all of the people haven’t finished their wines in the cups after the dessert. Therefore, there’s a tiny suggestion that it had better to add a dessert wine of a pure-drinking wine, or will be perfect. We were all have and enjoyable, a fantastic night!

The following is my tasting notes:

 

Torbreck Woodcutter's Semillon 2009

Pale lemon. Medium+ aroma of gas, liquorice, mineral, truffle, nuts, lemon, orange blossom, cabbage, honey, toast, fig, iron, butter, hint of smoke, mushroom. Very mineral on the palate. Medium body, hint of buttery. High acidity.

 

Torbreck Cuvee Juveniles GSM 2009

Medium- ruby. Intense aroma of coffee, candied strawberry, clove, rapsberry, liqurorice, mushroom, coconut, dark chocolate. Hint of reduction on the palate. Medium+ body. Ripe tannin with crisp acidity.

 

Torbreck The Struie Shiraz 2009

Very dark color. Pronounced, complex and balanced nose of eucalyptus, cream coffee, white pepper, cigar, toast coconut, dark berry, plum, prune, vanilla oak, citrus-peel, caramel, dark chocolate, hint of truffle, leather. Medium+ body. Very smooth. Strong tannin with high acidity.

 

Torbreck The Steading 2007

Deep color. Very intense bouquet of notable Chinese date, cream chocolate, raspberry, red berry, caramel, strawberry, mulberry. Very red fruity on the palate. Medium+ body. Medium+ tannin. High acidity.
